What Is Laser Wire®?

Laser Wire® is a glass optical fiber that emits light along its entire length. Driven by a focused laser diode, it produces a continuous, pixel-free glow that no LED or EL technology can replicate.

The Short Version

Laser Wire® is a complete illumination system: the fiber cabling, a laser module, and an FC connector. The laser module injects focused light into one end of the fiber. Instead of transmitting that light end-to-end (the way data fiber does), Laser Wire® cabling is engineered to be deliberately lossy — scattering light sideways along its full length. The result is a thin, flexible, evenly glowing line of light.

The fiber is 0.9mm in diameter, operates at 5V DC, and bends to a 5mm minimum radius. Colors include red, green, blue, and white (via Ice profile fiber). Any surface, fabric, model, vehicle, or garment that can have a thin fiber routed along it can be illuminated with Laser Wire®.

USB-powered 5V DC laser diode with precision FC connector optics. Capsule module for installed use, OpalDrive for wearables. 20–100mW optical output.

FC Connector System
Industry-standard threaded FC connector for precise optical alignment. Coupling gel ensures maximum light transfer at the fiber-to-module interface.

Patch Cable (Optional)
Transports the illuminated section away from the laser module via FC-to-FC coupler. Used when the module must be hidden or housed separately from the lit fiber.

Fiber Profiles

All three profiles use the same 0.9mm glass fiber. The difference is how quickly each disperses its light energy — which determines max usable run length and brightness per foot.

Super Pop
SKU: LWC001
Sharpest light bending. Brightest profile. Visible in broad daylight. Short accent runs and high-impact displays.
Max run: 1M (3.3 ft)
Pop
SKU: LWC002
Medium light bending. The most versatile profile. Even brightness across the full run. Works from well-lit rooms to low-light environments.
Max run: 5M (16 ft)
Accent
SKU: LWC003
Gentlest light bending. Lowest brightness per foot, longest runs. For architectural tracing and permanent installs in low-light environments.
Max run: 10M (33 ft)
Ice
White Profile
Phosphor-infused fiber. Converts blue (450nm) laser light to cool white (~5500K). Used exclusively with blue laser modules.
Output: ~5500K White

DualDrive Mode

Place a laser module on each end of the same fiber run. With two modules active simultaneously, brightness roughly doubles. When two different colors are used, the fiber produces a natural gradient that transitions from one color to the other. The gradient sharpness depends on the profile and run length — Super Pop produces a defined color break over 1M; Accent produces a sweeping gradient across 10M.
