Overview

Aquatic LED Built for the Environment

The Pixel-Free LED™ AQ is not a standard IP-rated LED strip deployed in a wet environment. It is a purpose-built aquatic LED fixture designed specifically for permanent submersion in pool, fountain, spa, and marine installations. The distinction starts at the end caps and runs through every material choice in the product.

Standard underwater LED products rely on silicone sleeves over PCB substrates. In a pool environment — continuous UV exposure, chlorine or salt chemistry, pressure cleaning, and thermal cycling — that sleeve eventually fails. The AQ eliminates the failure mode entirely: injection-molded end caps are produced to the exact specified length at the factory, creating a sealed system with no field-cut or field-resealed terminations. The waterproofing integrity is structural, not applied.

Key Feature

The End Cap Difference

The injection-molded end cap system is not a feature — it is the architectural reason the AQ exists as a separate product from standard IP68 strip.

🏭
Factory sealed to your exact length

Every AQ unit is manufactured to a specified run length. The end caps are injection-molded at the factory around that exact length — there is no field cutting, no field sealing, and no introduced ingress point at the termination. The seal is part of the product structure, not an applied accessory.

🔒
No field modifications allowed

The AQ cannot be cut after production. Cutting the product compromises the injection-molded end cap integrity and voids the warranty. This is not a limitation — it is the design. Specify your exact run length at the time of ordering. For multi-zone projects, specify each run as a separate piece.

🧪
Chemistry-matched to your application

When you submit your order inquiry, include your pool chemistry type — chlorinated, saltwater/saline, bromine, or other. This affects the specific material spec applied to your order. Spa environments with elevated chemical concentrations are handled differently from standard residential pools.

Why It Matters

Seamless Output Through Water

Water amplifies the visual defects of a light source. A standard LED strip that appears adequate in air shows visible, periodic hotspots through a water column. The AQ eliminates this entirely.

When light passes through water, refraction and diffusion amplify the visual structure of the source. A continuous linear source produces a uniform column or plane of illumination. A periodic point-source strip produces a series of bright cones that do not merge — the individual LED positions become clearly visible to anyone in or near the pool.

For resort pools, feature pools, and high-end residential installations where underwater visual quality is the specification — not just function — the AQ produces a result that reads as architectural and intentional. Point-source strip cannot replicate this result through diffusion alone.

The waterline position: The most impactful pool lighting position is at or just below the waterline on the pool wall. A seamless line at the waterline reflects cleanly on the water surface and produces precise perimeter definition. This is the position where the difference between seamless and point-source output is most visible.

Applications

Where Pixel-Free LED™ AQ Works

🏊
Pool Waterline and Perimeter

Continuous AQ run along the pool wall at the waterline. Visible from inside and outside the pool. Particularly effective on dark-bottom pools, infinity pools, and resort-style designs where the waterline is a deliberate visual element.

🪜
Underwater Step Nosing

Each step nosing ordered to exact tread width. Provides clear step definition for safety and a polished decorative result. Made-to-order production gives each step a clean continuous run with no cut-point compromise to the waterproofing.

Fountain Basins and Reflection Pools

Linear runs along fountain basin floors or perimeter walls. Illuminates the water column from below for dynamic fountain effects. Handles the full chemical and UV exposure profile of maintained decorative water features.

💧
Water Walls and Blade Falls

Positioned behind or at the base of water curtains, blade falls, and weir features. The submersion zone at the base of the fall is fully covered by the AQ's waterproofing specification.

♨️
Spas, Hot Tubs, and Plunge Pools

Higher chemical concentrations than standard pools. The AQ's chemical resistance specification covers bromine, chlorine, and the elevated concentrations typical of spa maintenance programs.

Marine Hull — Below Waterline

Below-waterline hull accent lighting. Made-to-order length means a full hull run with no field joints — the only connection points are the terminated ends at power entry locations outside the submersion zone.

Ordering Process

How to Order

The AQ is not listed as a standard catalog product. All orders are handled through the custom project inquiry process. You specify your runs, we build them to those dimensions, and return a quote within two to three business days.

📐
1 — Measure your runs

Map each lighting zone and measure exact run lengths. Waterline, step nosings, basin floor runs, feature wall runs. A plan drawing helps confirm routing and power placement.

✉️
2 — Submit your inquiry

Include run lengths, application type, chemistry (chlorine, salt, bromine), and color temperature or RGB requirement. Include your installation timeline — production lead time is confirmed at the quote stage.

📋
3 — Receive your quote

We return specs, pricing, and production lead time within two to three business days. As few as one piece per order. Batch production preferred for multi-zone projects.

🏗️
4 — Installation guidance provided

We provide application-specific installation guidance. AQ should be installed by a licensed pool contractor or electrician where local code requires it.
