What Is VynEL™?
VynEL™ started as EL Tape. Then we improved it. Standard EL Tape has a rigid metal backing that forces your application to conform to the tape. We removed it. What remains is an electroluminescent strip with a 5mm bending radius -- roughly 10x tighter than typical EL Tape -- that integrates into curved surfaces, fabric, textiles, and gear without fighting the shape of the object it's on. It can be sewn or heat bonded directly into fabric, and it's waterproof.
Does VynEL™ Require an Inverter?
Yes. VynEL™ is an electroluminescent product, which means it requires a high-frequency AC signal to emit light. All kits above include a compatible parallel EL inverter. It is not optional.
VynEL™ vs. Standard EL Panel
Why use VynEL™ instead of a standard EL Panel?
EL panels are flat, rigid, and fixed in shape. They work well in static, planar applications but fall apart once you need the light to integrate into something that has curves, flex, or movement. VynEL™ solves exactly that problem. Because the rigid metal backing has been removed, the strip bends around your object rather than dictating its geometry. Tent walls, helmet contours, jacket seams, curved signage -- VynEL™ goes where panels can't.
Is VynEL™ lighter than an EL Panel?
Yes, meaningfully so. The metal substrate in standard EL Tape and panels adds weight and stiffness that's acceptable in a fixed installation but becomes a problem in wearables or lightweight gear. VynEL™ is thin, light, and flexible enough to integrate into clothing without altering drape or fit.
Can VynEL™ match the brightness of an EL Panel?
Per unit area, EL panels can output higher brightness. VynEL™ is optimized for integration and flexibility, not raw lumen output. If your application requires maximum surface brightness in a static, flat installation, a panel may serve you better. If your application requires the light to conform to a shape, survive movement, or integrate into fabric, VynEL™ wins clearly.
Can VynEL™ be cut to length?
VynEL™ can be cut, but cuts require proper re-termination to maintain a functional electrical connection. For prototyping or one-off purposes, you can have success following the guides we've created by visiting our EL Guide section. For volume or production orders however, we recommend ordering a custom Engineered panel rather than trimming a standard kit.
Is VynEL™ waterproof like an EL Panel?
Yes. VynEL™ is waterproof and designed to be worn or placed on objects exposed to moisture. Standard EL panels vary -- some are rated for moisture exposure and some are not. VynEL™ is consistently waterproof across the product line.

Returns
All returns require a return authorization code (RAC). Email info@ellumiglow.com with your Order ID to receive one. Approved returns receive a full refund less shipping and a 10% restocking fee.
Custom Orders: Custom lengths of EL Wire, EL Tape, EL Paint, EL Panels, LED Strip Lights, Laser Wire, SewGlo and VynEL™ are non-returnable due to their custom nature.
