What is VynEL™ Lighting?

VynEL™ has a similar look to an EL Panel, but is more flexible, durable, easier to integrate, and even brighter. When comparing VynEL™ lighting to a traditional flat electroluminescent structure, VynEL™ can actually glow from both sides, whereas a common EL Panel or EL Tape will only illuminate on the top surface. This can be a neat feature when adding light to say, a pocket, so not only can it illuminate on the outside, but also allows you to see inside your pocket! Using high grade nano-technologies, VynEL™ lighting makes it possible to integrate light into countless applications like wearables. VynEL™ is the perfect solution because it will take the shape of the fabrics used and is vastly more flexible than a standard EL Panel. It can be heat bonded into textiles making it a perfect choice for safety gear, athletic wear, outdoor products, tradeshow exhibits, costuming, footwear, lingerie and more. It's even machine washable, so it can be used in garments that need regular maintenance. In short, VynEL™ lighting provides active illumination that achieves new safety standards for construction, athletic, military, first responders, emergency services and more.

What are the different variations of VynEL™ Lights? 

We have quite a few derivatives of the VynEL™ product line like the VynEL™ Decal, HD, Flow, Cling, and Splash. The Decal line of products is most suitable for backlighting applications and is currently made with an adhesive front AND back. This product is most used for advertising purposes, automotive backlighting or racing panels, vision systems, and much more. Applying a graphic decal over the front is simple; simply use a plotter to cut out the negative space and apply over the face, or use a full color print on various backlit films and create full color light boxes that are about 1mm thick. In custom applications, we can apply the light to static cling films for easy removal on retail windows or commercial settings. It is also customizable to have various areas illuminate for sequenced effects, or even custom die cut shapes created to match your brands logo.

The HD Line is our most popular line and is a "jack of all trades" type product. It's very water resistant, flexible, heat bondable, and easy to integrate. It has a neat texture and is suitable for product integration, apparel, sporting goods, and much more. These products (other than the 1m strip) all have an adhesive pre-installed on the back, which allows you to heat press (or iron) directly to most fabrics that can add light to a garment in about 15-20 seconds.

The Flow line is our newest derivative and meant for apparel and more performance type applications. It has similar properties to the HD, but with more flex, and a little bit of stretch. Heat bonding agents are also applied to the back of this panel for easy integration.

The Cling line is made similar to how automotive wraps are made, so it also contains a bit of stretch to it, but suitable for advertising purposes on 3-Dimensional objects like cars, planes, busses, trains, heavy machinery and more.

The Splash line our most waterproof solution which contains a fully encapsulated panel, and allows for integration in submersible applications like lifejackets, and marine applications. We can also add buttons to this product which can allow for on/off ability on many different products like bags, outerwear, sporting goods and more.

The Organic VynEL™ (OVL) product line can be made in most derivatives (HD, Decal, Splash & Decal) currently. It uses unique elements which allow the brightness to double current thresholds. The normal VynEL™ product line emits around 300-400cd/m2, whereas the OVL line will emit from 600-800cd/m2! For more information on the OVL product line, be sure to contact us. 

Are VynEL™ Panels customizable?

VynEL™ is sold on Ellumiglow.com in set sizes, however for larger volume applications, we can customize nearly any aspect of the lighting for wearables or other markets. From custom shapes and sizes, to backlit logos, we have a custom lighting design team based in Portland, Oregon, with production facilities in China and Taiwan to help facilitate even the largest projects. The standard NRE (Non-Recurring Engineering) Fee for any custom VynEL Panel is $500, which is a one-time fee in order to make the tooling for your product, then the cost of materials. We are able to make as little as a single piece, up to large production quantities. Pricing is determined by the size, complexity of design, and quantity. Additional tooling charges may be required in some instances.
