TruEL™ Wire Connection Guide

How to Properly Connect TruEL™ Wire

TruEL™ Wire differs from standard EL Wire in durability and stability, offering a more robust design with two core wires instead of fragile angel hair wires. Follow this guide to ensure a solid, reliable connection for your TruEL™ Wire.

Step-by-Step Connection Process

Step 1: Remove Outer TPU Jacketing

  • Use wire strippers set to 18-20AWG (0.8-1mm).

  • Strip off 0.5-1 inch (12-25mm) of jacketing to expose the core wires.

Step 2: Strip Off Phosphor Coating

  • Carefully remove the phosphor coating with a thin flat-head screwdriver, X-Acto knife, or razor blade.

  • Leave 0.25-0.5 inch (6-12mm) of phosphor at the base and expose the silver core wire at the tip.

Step 3: Soldering the Connector/Wires

  • Attach heat shrink tubing before soldering (one for each wire and a larger one for the entire connection).

  • Wrap and solder the exposed wire ends to your connector or extension wire.

  • Trim excess wire for a clean, solid connection.

Step 4: Apply Heat Shrink Tubing

  • Heat-shrink each individual wire, ensuring full coverage.

  • Slide the larger heat shrink over the entire connection area and heat until fully secured.

Step 5: Test the Connection

  • Connect to a TruEL™ Wire inverter and test the illumination.

  • If the wire does not light up, double-check your soldering and wire exposure.
