TruEL™ Wire differs from standard EL Wire in durability and stability, offering a more robust design with two core wires instead of fragile angel hair wires. Follow this guide to ensure a solid, reliable connection for your TruEL™ Wire.
Use wire strippers set to 18-20AWG (0.8-1mm).
Strip off 0.5-1 inch (12-25mm) of jacketing to expose the core wires.
Carefully remove the phosphor coating with a thin flat-head screwdriver, X-Acto knife, or razor blade.
Leave 0.25-0.5 inch (6-12mm) of phosphor at the base and expose the silver core wire at the tip.
Attach heat shrink tubing before soldering (one for each wire and a larger one for the entire connection).
Wrap and solder the exposed wire ends to your connector or extension wire.
Trim excess wire for a clean, solid connection.
Heat-shrink each individual wire, ensuring full coverage.
Slide the larger heat shrink over the entire connection area and heat until fully secured.
Connect to a TruEL™ Wire inverter and test the illumination.
If the wire does not light up, double-check your soldering and wire exposure.

TruEL™ Wire is the next-generation EL wire, featuring two copper core wires wrapped in phosphor coating. When powered with the right voltage and frequency, it produces a uniform glow.
Yes! TruEL™ Wire requires an inverter to convert DC to AC power, exciting the phosphor layer for illumination.
With special inverters, TruEL™ Wire can reach brightness levels up to 600cd/m², about 2x brighter than standard EL Wire.
Yes! TruEL™ Wire can be cut at any point, but it must be sealed with an end cap or waterproof glue to prevent moisture damage.
